SOVATA
Nestled in a hidden valley in the Carpathian Mountains, in what must be one of the most un-spoilt regions of Europe, lies the unique spa resort of Sovata. It overlooks the unique Bear Lake, which because of its high salt content and resulting floating effect, is often called the ‘dead sea of Transylvannia’.
Salt is the heart of our therapies in Sovata, famous for its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This salt water and the medicinal mud, from the lake, make up the basis of our spa treatments. The health spa centre is focused around a warm indoor salt bath containing water from the lake. Individual salt baths are also available as well as medicinal mud-packs. Not only are the treatments effective for arthritis, rheumatism and mobility disorders, but these special natural resources are also extremely successfully used to treat some gynaecological and skin conditions.
Natural Resources
The Bear salt lake of Sovata and its salt water are used as a basis for
the treatments in Sovata. This salt water has a curative effect on
mobility disorders, some skin conditions and is also used for
inhalation treatments.
Mud from the lake with its antibacterial and
anti-inflammatory properties is used as a treatment both for mobility
disorders and as a gynecologic treatment. In fact its results for
sterility in women have been so successful that the spa has a
longstanding reputation for success in this field.
