PIESTANY
The spa island of Piestany is one of the world’s most largest and unique spa complexes, and is surrounded on all sides by the river Vah. In the dead arm of the river is a unique, live, ecosystem of sulphurous mud in addition to many thermal springs that are used as a basis for the treatments. The island with its natural parkland, thermal pools, fitness centers, tennis and golf course, boasts four large spa complexes to which the five island hotels have access.
The spa heritage of Piestany
Since the time the spa was mentioned in a poem by Adam Trajan, in 1642, its fame has grown. The end of the 19th century was a time of incredible growth when the owners rented it to the Winter family. It is from that time that its symbol emerged - a man breaking his crutch, freeing himself of pain. The Winter family started to modernize the spas with unusual energy. The spa has attracted many famous people through the years, including Austrian Emperor Karol I, Selma Lagerlöf, composer Franz Lehár, Indian Maharajas, Arabian Sheikhs, film stars and many others.
Piestany spa has been treating and preventing degenerative and chronic
inflammatory locomotive disorders for well over a century now. Piestany
spa also works to treat nervous system and post injury conditions using
proven methods to stimulate the body to achieve rapid pain reduction
and early healing.
