About the Thermal Water
The thermal lake of Hévíz is the largest of its kind in the world and covers an area of 47,500 m2. The water contains sulphide and a special mud, containing organic and inorganic components, covers the bottom of the lake. The water gushes out from a 38 m deep, spring crater, its average temperature in summer is 33-35° C and in winter never drops below 23° C. The water of the lake is famous for its curative effect on many kinds of rheumatic, locomotive, muscular and nervous-system disorders, as well as some gynaecological problems. Relaxing in the thermal water is also an excellent way to unwind and release the stresses and tensions of modern life.
The mud of Hévíz lake
The curative effect of the mud - that covering the bottom of the lake - is especially marked. The mud of Hévíz Lake - mixed with the lake's water - is used in the form of packs.
This mud-type can be classified between the purely inorganic type and that which has high organic content. The main organic components are the different plant fibres. Its inorganic content consists mainly of calcium and magnesium carbonates, sulphates and a low level of radon.
Indications
Rheumatic and musculo-skeletal disorders, arthralgia, polyarthritis (except in acute phase), spondylarthritis (M. Bechterew), discopathia, late rehabilitation after orthopaedic surgery (prosthetic of the joints, discs of backbone, correction, etc.), various cases of neuropathy, tennis elbow or golf arm, frozen shoulder, peritendinitis, static dysbalance of the body and fibromyalgy etc.
Contraindications
Infectious diseases (TBC, Hepatitis, etc.), all malignant tumours, Multiple Sclerosis), circulatory disturbances combined with cardiac insufficiency, after operation and heart attack (PTCA, bypass coronary, Myocardial infarction, etc. the last documents from the cardiac-surgery are needed), thrombosis, thrombophlebitis, serious cases of anaemia, leukaemia, haemophilia, hyperthyroidism (M. Basedow), resistant hypertonic disease, pregnancy, children under 14 years.

Medical treatments are available till 15:00 from Monday to Saturday.
Relaxation treatments and treatments not requiring a doctor's examination (e.g. wellness massage) are available until 18:00 from Monday to Saturday and till 15:00 on Sunday. Treatments may be restricted on the following public holidays: 01.01., 15.03., 1.05., 20.08., 23.10., 01.11., 25-26.12., Easter and Whitsun.
