A few months ago, you might have seen some pictures of our Running Team on our social media; After a tough training, 6 of us went off to Budapest to compete with the other Danubius Hotels Teams at the Danubius Group annual run of 3.5 km
We were very proud of them and they did really enjoyed this experience, that’s when they decided they should keep running and do it for a good cause. At the Danubius Hotel Regents Park we make a point of supporting some charities and help our local community as much as we can. We wanted to do something fun and useful… After a few weeks of research we found Brainwave and heard about their annual Santa Dash. And the Santa project started!
We got in touch with lovely Lauren who sent us donation boxes and helped us register for the run. But that was not as easy as it sounds… things were serious now and we had to find a way to raise money in order to help the volunteers from Brainwave and support the children in need. We were delighted when Petronela (you will hear more about her very soon so stay tuned!), from Housekeeping, offered to bake more than HUNDRED gingerbread men!! She made a fantastic job and Laura and Swagata from HR took turn to sell them in the Hotel. We managed to raise more than £115. So a big thank you to all of you who participated!
Money was one thing, we still had to complete 5 km run in the city… but that was the fun part 🙂 On Tuesday 6th, 7 of us, dressed with our sporty clothes happily went to Spitafield Market where the starting point of the run was and more importantly where we could collect our Santa Suits and dress up for the occasion!
Needless to say that we all had a FANTASTIC time! From the warm up to the run in the city (magical atmosphere with all the Christmas decorations – some of us even stopped to do some sightseeing!!) and we were SO happy to hear that more than 300 people registered, raising a total of £22.000!!!
