The delicious pastry log is a favourite with everyone \u2013 especially when the filling is generous and the pastry thin.\u00a0 If the wish is to pamper your guests with something other than the usual poppy seed or walnut varieties, this chestnut \u2013 dried fruit version will not disappoint!<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe title=\"Hungarian Recipes - Chestnut Dried Fruit Bejgli - Danubius Hotels\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U2-B6qBmkuc?feature=oembed&#038;wmode=opaque\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ingredients:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><u>Pastry:<\/u><\/em>\u00a0 (2 logs)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">300 g flour<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 g salt<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">30 g powdered sugar<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">120 g butter<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">90 g milk<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6 g yeast<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 egg yolk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><u>Filling:<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">400 g chestnut paste (flavoured with rum and powdered sugar to taste)<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">160 g finely chopped dried fruit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Combine the ingredients for the pastry thoroughly, then place the dough on a board in two identical mounds.\u00a0 Wrap in plastic foil and allow to rest in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.\u00a0 In the meantime, prepare the filling, removing the pastry dough from the refrigerator one half hour before use.\u00a0 Combine the chestnut paste with a small quantity of rum and powdered sugar, as desired.\u00a0 Finely chop the dried fruit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roll out the pastry dough into two rectangles.\u00a0 Spread the chestnut filling over the dough and sprinkle with the dried fruit pieces.\u00a0 Folding the edges of the dough up carefully, roll the\u00a0<em>bejgli<\/em>\u00a0into two logs.\u00a0 Brush with egg yolk and allow to rest, then brush with egg white.\u00a0 Once the egg is dry, bake for 35 minutes at 180 degrees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tip:<br \/>\n<em>Bejgli<\/em>\u00a0should always be made with clean hands and the resting time for the dough copiously respected!\u00a0 To give the surface that shiny, marbled look, brush first with egg yolk, allow to dry, then brush with egg white, placing the pastry in the oven only when the glaze has dried completely.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It wouldn\u2019t be a traditional Hungarian Christmas without bejgli!
