Medical spa stay

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A MEDICAL SPA STAY?

1.    Our medical spa treatments are based on natural traditions and resources in each country where we operate, ranging from natural mineral and thermal waters through to medicinal mud with a high sulphur content, spring or salt water and naturally occurring gases.

2.    After arrival, our guests are booked in for a consultation with one of our health spa’s experienced doctors to discuss their current state of health, their health complaints and any special requests they may have.

3.    Based on the results of the consultation, the doctor puts together a personalised treatment programme. With this high level of medical expertise, we combine the effects of our natural resources with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, body packs and medical massages, in order to achieve the best possible results. Depending on the degree of progress observed, the doctor may adjust or supplement the treatments.

4.    In addition to medical treatments, we also offer a wide range of relaxation and wellness treatments.

5.    If you come for an extended medical spa stay, when it’s time to leave our doctors will carry out a closing examination and give you personalised lifestyle advice.

To make the most of our treatments, we recommend medical spa programmes lasting 2-3 weeks.

Good: Really close to Keleti railway station , the metro line is right at the doorstep of the hotel, it's only one stop from the train station. The pool is not deep, only 120cm, so kids can also swim in it. When requested, they provide a bath gown, but bring your own slippers. My picture shows the view from my room. Bad: As there is a water kettle in the rooms, they could just put some tea bags and some instant coffee in the rooms as well. Thanks. :)

Good: Practically everything. Great location on an island, very convenient for go running. Excellent spa and gym. Price was very reasonable. Surprisingly modern and stylish room décor. Nice breakfast with a focus on healthy options. Bad: It is really pity that spa and gym close at 9:30pm. This is certainly too early for business travellers (especially gym). Due to location be prepared to use taxi to and from the hotel. There are no restaurants and pubs/bars on the island except for those in the hotel (or at least I did not see any around). One would have to cross the river or take taxi to the center. Currently there are some roadworks on the island but it did not bother me at all.

Good: Comfortable with friendly, helpful staff. Bad: Nothing Location Tip: Castle district and restaurants abound within easy reach. The hotel staff are friendly and the hotel is in the perfect place from which to explore Budapest. We always stay in this hotel due to its comfort, situation and friendly staff. The hotel is great for public transport and has a metro within 5 minutes of it. The castle district is within walking distance and the town centre is 10-15 minutes away by the excellent public transport system.

Good: the atmosphere, the helpful staff, the excellent breakfast an the whole ambiance of the pl;ace, hope they never completely modernise - go to the other hotel chsins if you want chrome and smoked glass, I prefer the mahogany and bevelled glass! Bad: Nothing at all that I can think of!

Good: The Danubius Grand Hotel is a kind of Budapest secret as it's just far enough from the center to be off the beaten path. Still Margitsziget Island is only a few kilometres from downtown Budapest. Everything at the Grand Hotel Margitsziget is very formal as in a five star Paris hotel, including traditional tails at the front desk and maids in old-fashioned uniforms. The rooms are huge, many with balcony facing either gardens or the Danube (gardens are quieter, Danube more spectacular and brighter). The suites are gorgeous and luxurious, with huge bathrooms. I recommend an upgrade if you have the budget. The indoor swimming pool is very nice. The hot spring part is a bit geriatric club. The outdoor pool is pretty but small. The staff are very kind. I would say a good two stars more helpful than three years ago (I guess someone got the message that service should improve). The food is a bit banal. There's nothing wrong with the traditional Hungarian menus but they could be cooked with a lot more flare, including the breakfast buffet. You should definitely include breakfast in your booking though, if you don't have bikes, as the nearest alternatives are a long way away. The whole experience is like something out of John Irving's Hotel New Hampshire. Bad: The park and island are spectacular. Be careful walking in the park though. I was quite badly bitten (leg only fortunately) by a nasty little Hungarian mutt who seemed to belong to the best friend of one of the vendors.
