Mineral water and natural gas
Mineral water and natural gas
List of Mineral water and natural gas (3 items)
Drinking medicinal mineral water is an important part of your spa stay. The rich mineral waters gently regulate the functioning of the stomach, bowels, kidneys and liver. A drinking treatment normally consists of drinking a prescribed amount of the mineral before meals, as drinking on an empty stomach increases the efficiency and effect of the mineral substances and their absorption into the body. Each particular fountain in our different spa resorts in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia has its own unique benefits and advantages. Instructions on how to take full advantage of this natural resource can be found in the spa. In general, it is advised to drink between 1-2 decilitres before meals. Our Health Spa Resort of Marienbad was built around the healing effects of its medicinal drinking springs, world famous for its curative effects on kidney and urinary tract conditions. There are seven different mineral water springs in Marienbad, each with their own particular benefits and healing mineral components. Because of this, combined with the importance of embarking upon the correct drinking regime, your spa doctor will advise you on which spring can best benefit your health condition. In Marienbad, you will normally be prescribed to drink between 1-2 litres per day.
This is a signature treatment, exclusively provided in the spa resort of Marienbad using the natural local mineral waters and natural CO2 gas that naturally seeps out from the ground. The bath takes place in a historical bath tub, inlaid with oak. The water temperature is 34°C and the peat is added directly into the water. Natural CO2 gas fizzes onto the skin, producing a relaxing, tickling sensation. The carbon dioxide is absorbed through the skin into the body, where it slows down the heart activity and reduces the blood pressure. The bath improves blood circulation, counteracts stress, decreases blood pressure, improves the function of the heart and at the same time lets the body absorb the beneficial minerals from the peat. After the treatment it is necessary to have a shower consisting of a mixture of warm water and mineral spring.
This traditional treatment procedure dates back to 1905. During the treatment the guest sits in the original bath which is filled with CO2 natural gas directly from Maria’s spring. The gas reaches up to the waist. At the same time the guest breathes oxygen through a tube which causes a revitalizing and relaxation effect. The treatment improves the blood circulation throughout the whole body, improves the saturation of haemoglobin with the oxygen, which helps to regenerate cells, thereby reducing aging (having an anti-aging effect).

Performed by qualified masseurs, the medical massage, sometimes referred to as the ‘classical’ massage, uses a variety of techniques during treatment. The massage generally targets areas where secondary changes have occurred as a result of injury somewhere in the body. Its aim is to speed up the recovery process by improving circulation to the problematic area. As well as improving blood flow to the targeted region, it can relax or stimulate muscles and mitigate pain. The massage is normally conducted in the following areas: back, arms, lower extremities, stomach, chest and neck. Depending on which areas are targeted, this is either referred to as a ‘partial’ or ‘full body’ massage.
After the doctor’s examination and diagnosis, a specific area of the body is prescribed for massage. The aim is to stimulate blood circulation in this specific area, release muscle tension and improve the mobility of the connective tissue and joint.

During this treatment the peat is applied to prescribed body parts. The body is wrapped up in a blanket and at the same time sinks into the membrane of a waterbed, which evokes a pleasant and warm feeling of weightlessness. The body is gradually heated up to the recommended temperature, which can be regulated. The peat wrap decreases local swellings around the joints and eases muscle tension. It reinforces anti-inflammatory and immunity processes in the body, improving the function of the cartilages, connective tissues and intervertebral disks. After the treatment it is recommended to have classical massage.
List of Inhalation (1 items)
During the treatment, mineral water or medicine is inhaled from a spring directly from Maria’s fountain. This helps to dissolve phlegm and to clean the respiratory tract. The mineral water or medicine is inhaled into the respiratory system and lungs. This treatment is effective for treating chronic respiratory disorders, allergies and the remenants of a cold or infection of the upper respiratory tract.
