"IN THE HEART OF PIEŠŤANY"
The two-star, non-smoking Spa Hotel Jalta was built in 1929 in the functional style and, with its annexes; the Villa ‘Ivánka’ (Šumava Annex) and Piestany Hotel Smaragd, provide a lovely, peaceful location for a restorative spa break. The hotel’s annexes increased during the inter-war period. Originally they were popular sanatoriums. Nowadays the majority of them have undergone reconstruction and offer high-quality hotel services. The hotel and annexes are in the town centre and park, and this family-oriented resort is just a few steps from the spa. The smaller buildings, compared to the large complexes on Spa Island, are cosy, comfortable and quiet, with genuine Slovak hospitality guests feel right at home. Visitors can keep fit on the island with sports facilities as well as squash and bowling in the town.
Spa Hotel Jalta (previously Hotel Excelsior) was built in 1929 in the functional style based on the plans and designs of the architect Weisz.
The hotel's annexes grew step by step and increased during the inter-war period. Originally they were popular sanatoriums, while nowadays the majority of them have undergone reconstruction and offer high-quality hotel services.

Medical spa stays
A wide range of treatments are provided in the Napoleon Health Spa 300m from the Jalta Hotel on Spa Island. Guests can take advantage of medical spa packages and enjoy treatments based on the local thermal water such as the wellness baths and healing mud used in packs. Many kinds of wellness massage are popular, from Hot Stone Therapy to Anti-Cellulite treatment to Aromatic massage. These are especially effective after a work-out at the fitness centre.
At this friendly Slovakia spa, guests can choose from a wide selection of buffet tables for breakfast, while lunch and dinner are served à la carte in Jalta Hotel’s restaurant. Local and international dishes are complemented by vegetarian meals, dietary and meals for seniors, with a generous salad buffet. To kick back and relax after treatments, guests can choose between the two summer terraces of the Café Excelsior in Jalta and Café Espresso at Vila Trajan.
Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi) and Beethoven were also fans of Piestany’s sulphurous medicinal water.
The main attraction of this small town in Slovakia – also referred to by the town’s official symbol, a statue of a man breaking his crutches (the work of Arthur Heyer) – is the medicinal thermal water that bubble up on the spa island in the river Vág. The town has several great cafés, an aquatic and equestrian sport centre and a golf course for holiday-makers to enjoy.
