Pro Patria is a lovely medical spa hotel in Piestany, Slovakia; a beautifully-restored period spa hotel, originally built in 1916 and located in the heart of Spa Island. The hotel originally opened in the presence of Habsburg Archduke Franz Salvator and Piestany spa founder Louis Winter, for the treatment of injured soldiers during World War I. Due to its location, guests at the two-star Pro Patria have barrier-free access to the treatment rooms in the hotel or the Napoleon Health Spa nearby. This smoke-free hotel has an interesting fan-shaped plan. Balneotherapy services are located in the heart of the fan, and around the radials are various pavilions, hotel rooms, a cafe and two restaurants. Guests are ideally situated to enjoy the relaxing spa park or do something more active at the many sports facilities on Spa Island.
For the comfort and health of our guests please note that this is a smoke-free hotel.
Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.
Thank you for your kind understanding.

At the delightful Sisi Restaurant, spa treatment visitors enjoy Slovak and international cuisine, and also can try the healthy diet programme based on modern, high-quality food and food preparation methods. Breakfast is served buffet-style, with lunch and supper from a set menu with salad bar. The Franz Josef Café serves a wide variety of drinks and desserts and enjoys a lovely, leafy summer terrace, where business guests can access the Internet. The Marianne Restaurant is open to clients of health insurance companies.
Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi) and Beethoven were also fans of Piestany’s sulphurous medicinal water.
The main attraction of this small town in Slovakia – also referred to by the town’s official symbol, a statue of a man breaking his crutches (the work of Arthur Heyer) – is the medicinal thermal water that bubble up on the spa island in the river Vág. The town has several great cafés, an aquatic and equestrian sport centre and a golf course for holiday-makers to enjoy.
