The weather is warming up, the sun is still a bit shy but the weather forecasts are looking great for the weekend! Summer is on its way and we are all looking forward to this coming bank holiday weekend.
If you are travelling to London, with friends, family or on business, here is what you could do:
First of all, for every single Londoner, August Bank Holiday weekend means only one thing: Notting Hill Carnival!! This is probably one of the most famous events in the capital and actually the biggest street festival in Europe! So you have no excuse, it is something to experience at least once in a lifetime!
The Carnival starts on Sunday at 9.00am with what we usually call “Children’s Day” and runs until Monday evening 7.00pm. The celebrations of the capital’s Caribbean community take place in West London, from Notting Hill to Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park. The Big Parade with its amazing colors and fantastic live music is on Monday. Make sure you check TFL website for travel updates as few bus routes and tube stations might be disturbed. If you don’t want to be trapped in the crowd and take it easy, then simply head to Liverpool Street and one of its most iconic Pubs, The Water Poet. Only a few minute walk from the station, this English Pub is having a Cider Festival and Hop Roast for the Bank Holiday Weekend. You will find in the backyard barn specialist apples brews for only a fiver, hop roast and also a music band. Enjoy!

A bit of culture first with the Mr Men and Little Miss Mini Museum at The Gallery@Oxo. This free exhibition has been designed especially for children with everything at a child’s size to discover or re discover all the books and characters. More information here. And if you want to do something a bit more summery with your little ones (or older ones!) then you will be amazed by The Beach East at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The area has been covered with sand (more than 2,200 square meters), a gigantic paddling pool, funfair rides and bars for the grown-ups. Everything you need on a hot day in London.
