Anna Festival17 July 2018 - 22 July 2018
For six years, Balatonfüred has organised a week-long festival around the Anna ball. As part of the festival, the Competiton for musicians named after the Gipsy violinist, János Lavotta is organised. During the two-day competiton, competitors have to play a compulsory and an optional piece of music, based on which the jury decides who is the best violinist. The traditonal „heart fishing” is organised every year on the day preceeding the Anna ball, based on the short story „Heart fishing on Lake Balaton” by the famous Hungarian writer Gyula Krúdy. Participants on board of a boat try to fish wooden hearts from the Lake Balaton. As the first prize, participants can win two entrance tickets for the next year’s Anna ball.

The balls were strated to be organised in the peaceful Reform era.The Anna ball is traditionally the feast of debutants, when parents introduce their grown-up children to the society. The 18-year-old girls living in Balatonfüred are invited to the Ball by the town. Every year the most beautiful young lady participating in the Anna ball is chosen as the Belle of the Ball, and two more ladies are chosen to be her maids of honour.
Balatonfüred Wine Weeks10 August 2018 - 02 September 2018
The Balatonfüred Wine Weeks is one of the most prestigious and highest standard wine festivals of the Balaton region. Visitors can taste rosés, sparkling wines, fresh Welschrieslings, and more full-bodied items from the barrel. The exhibitions, theatrical evenings, and concerts are an inevitable part of this event, just to make sure that visitors will have a comprehensive experience.
Romantic Reform Age Festival20 September 2018 - 23 September 2018
The programmes of the festival take us on a time travel in September every year. We can take a walk along the historical buildings with the members of the traditionalists who are dressed in authentic clothes, where well-known poets and writers spent their time during the turn of the last century. A wide range of cultural and gastronomy programes await the guests.
50th Kékszalag Regatta26 July 2018 - 28 July 2018
This is the oldest and longest regatta around a lake in Europe. There are always 400-500 boats participating with 1800-2000 tireless sailors on the decks. Before the race starts the participants look like they were all in one giant fleet when they sail along the coast in front of the audience. Route: Balatonfüred – Balatonkenese – Siófok – Badacsony – Keszthely – Tihany – Balatonfüred. Distance: 160 kilometers
Fehér Szalag Regatta 21 July 2018
Fehér Szalag is traditionally organized on the Saturday of the weekend before Kékszalag, which this year will be 21 June. The second most prestigious event of the year, this is the warm-up race of Kékszalag. Instead of the entire lake, ships only cruise the waters of the eastern basin on the circular route Füred-Kenese-Siófok-Tihany-Füred. All ships that are in the running for the top position of Kékszalag tend to enter this race and many new vessels make their debut here as well, so apart from enjoying the excitement of the competition, you can also marvel at these brand new beauties.
Round the Peninsula - István Széchenyi Memorial15 September 2018
The Round the Peninsula sailing race is one of the most popular races among Hungarian sailors. The water around Balatonfüred-Tihany-Sajkod will be sprinkled with hundreds of colourful sails.
Balatonfüred Harvest Festival19 October 2018 - 21 October 2018
The Balatonfüred Harvest Festival will be held on October 19-21. In line with the town’s profile, local wines will be available for tasting, and guests will have a varied event selection to choose from: theatre shows for kids, traditional fire lighting ceremony, flag juggling, brass bands, folk dance groups, wine societies and much, much more.
International Guitar Festival Balatonfüred23 June 2018 - 30 June 2018
The Balatonfüred International Guitar Festival is held for the 9th time among the historical vibes of the city between 21 and 28 June. This festival is a musical and cultural event that wishes to introduce various musical genres (without limitations of style) to the audience from year to year. The fans of classzical music, jazz, flamenco and world music will all find concerts to their liking during this one-week festival.
15th International "Sirály" Dance Festival17 June 2018 - 20 June 2018
The 15th International "Sirály" Dance Festival and the accompanying professional course will be held in Balatonfüred from 17 to 20 June, open to familiar and new participants, professionals and beginners alike. The fate of the prizes will be decided by a 3-piece "civilian" jury + 2 professionals. The audience can also hand out its award each night.
KLASSZ a pARTon! - A summer classical music series12 July 2018 - 26 August 2018
In cooperation of the Cimbora Foundation and the Óbuda Danubia Band, the KLASSZ a pARTon! summer classical music concert series brings you renown musicians and bands as well as emerging artists to entertain you on the shores of Balaton and the banks of Danube. Locations include Balatonfüred, Balatonakarattya, Keszthely, Szigliget, Zánka, Csopak and Balatonföldvár, while the final concert take splace at Budapest's Várkert Bazaar.
Salvatore Quasimodo Poetry Competition 07 August 2018 - 08 August 2018
Nobel prize winner Italian poet Salvatore Quasimodo was at Balatonfüreden in 1961 taking part in a health cure. He planted a Memorial Tree and formulated his feelings related to Balatonfüred and its surroundings in verse. In his honor will be held this international poetry competition bearing his name which is an outstanding event in the cultural life of the Hungary and Italy.
