2019 Green Initiative

Encouraged by all our guests showing commitment to recycling and good environmental practices and communicating any thoughts they may have to improve our current practices, we gained a Silver award in 2016 from the London Green Hotels Scheme and a Silver Award from the Green Tourism in 2018. If there is anything you would like to know about our current policies please do not hesitate to contact us.

For 2019 we aim to save 3% of our energy used in 2018, a year in which we saved 8% on 2017, and working with Thames Water & Carbon Aqua a further 3% in our water use, this is our on-going commitment looking forward. Water use has been reduced since 2008 by 4% annually.

The new Chilling system installed in 2014 allowed to make an overall Electricity saving in 2015 of 28% and although this is not anticipated for 2019 we would hope to continue making modest saving annually.

We are also looking to implement additional Fair-Trade items within the property in line with the commitment made by our suppliers to improve and increase the suppliers on offer.

We reduced our landfill tonnage by 5% in 2015 in a process began in 2010 and we hope to be able to reduce this further in 2019. We recycle Glass, Cardboard, Paper and Used Frying oil and waste food specifically at this time.

All corridors have energy saving lighting using modern efficient LED lighting and as we replace any bold lighting both in and out we will be converting to LED units.

For guests wishing to use public transport, Tube and Bus maps and directions can be obtained at Concierge. All staff to use Public Transport and there are Cycle racks available for use. The London Cycle scheme has three sites within a very short distance from the Hotel and use of the system is very user-friendly.

Suppliers of products used within the property are chosen for their Environmental awarness in addition to other service standards; most have their practices on their websites for viewing. We will continue to monitor all suppliers and our method of working to ensure that we operate in the most environmentally friendly manner.
