Charming. Decadent. Opulent. There are so many adjectives I could use. But I think the most important one is personality. It takes just three seconds to decide on the character of a hotel - and the Hotel Astoria in Budapest is like a woman of a certain age who has learned the value of intelligence and good manners. It's this knowledge that gives the hotel a rare kind of charm. The staff are polite and speak excellent English and German. They will help you book a trip to the baths, a taxi or a meal without missing a beat. And, if you like a little breakfast with your stay, the buffet is wonderful - and filling. The hotel itself is right next to a metro stop and in easy walking distance of literally dozens of sites and restaurants. Frankly, big chains are a bit of a bore because they are all the same. They lack individuality and warmth - things the Astoria has is spades.

Hotel Astoria is a great 4-star-hotel in the very centre of Budapest, close to the pedestrian area and maybe 200 meters from the Klothilden-palaces. The building does not look very special from outside, but it has 126 rooms and 5 elegant suites and a great interior - see some pics on the link below ! Unique Quality: Hotel Astoria is in the very centre of Budapest, and their prices are quite high on a first view - BUT simply check for their package-offers and you will get 3-day-arrangements including breakfast-buffet, 2 meals and transfer from and to the airport for a really reasonable price - you just have to book it in advance ! Opinion of Price: more expensive than average

I would highly recommend this hotel, even though it is a little bit on the expensive side :) The staff is more than friendly AND English-speaking (which is not that common in Budapest), the rooms are very clean and spacious, air-conditioned, with TVs, mini-bars, telephones and radios. The reastaurant is also huge and serves fantastic food. But the best thing is, of course, the location-as you may gather from its name, it is located virtually next to the Astoria metro station, which means that you are within walking distance from all famous sights of beautiful Budapest Unique Quality: The one thing that may be a problem is that this hotel does not have its own car park, so if you are coming by car, make sure you bring money for the public parking :) Everything else is just perfect!:) PS: They give huge discounts for online booking- how did you think I got there in the first place? :)) Opinion of Price: more expensive than average

A completely great hotel with huge large rooms and right next to the metro Had deluxe rooms have a huge large bed and through the UPS rooms simply Imperial Breakfast in a prunktvollen hall with all what the heart in the morning need

The location was perfect for a easter in Budapest. Walking distance to everything, buth also metro busses and tram outside the door. Friendly and helpfull staff. The restaurant was nice, service good, but the food was without taste.

Hotel: From the outside certainly very 'venerable'. The night lighting compensated however for sure once still notwndige Fassadenrekonstruktion. Inside great, very clean, great breakfast room. The staff spoke English, you will find but also very good German speaking front desk staff, the also gladly informed touristic instructions gifts. Audience international. Location: Right on the metro access. The city via public transport (like we also) want to see, is the place! Service: Contrary to other Critiques: everything staff was friendly! Food: Top breakfast, with warm-shares, much fruit, salads, juices... And the ' Körnerfreunde ' their moneys worth Room: We had a deluxe room in the sixth floor, this (and because of the soundproof windows) we felt not by noise from the street troubled. Advice: We have this hotel through detours at a fair price and were completely contented. Again at any time!

The hotel is at an amazing location. The front desk was always very helpful and everyone spoke English. They can plan your day for you and give you suggestions on where to go. Our shower-head was broken, when we let them know they fixed it immediately. Great service.

We paid only 60 GBP for a twin room with a child's bed in. The furnishings were amazing, the room had aircon and it was quiet enough despite facing the main street. Only criticism - the walls were clearly too thin as next door's banged on our wall requiring the noise being kept down and we weren't so loud. The TV could have been with channels you didn't have to pay for too, but I really am nit-picking now. We didn't have breakfast and at 14 euros a head you can forget it. Great value, close enough to walk into the city (10-15 mins) and easy to get to by metro or bus.

Danubius Hotel Astoria City Center is located just at the exit of Astoria metro station. Its very convenient and allows to travel around the city fast. It's also close to tram that travels around the city and bus that goes to the other side of Danubius river (directly to Gellert baths). Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and speaks good English. Breakfest is rich and tasty. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Budapest. It's a very good deal for the price.

The hotel is great! Clean, large and nice rooms, great stuff down in the reception, a very good and not so expensive restaurant in the lobby, a huge!! breakfast etc.. The only minus i've found is that there i no free wifi in the rooms and it costs a lot of money. If i'll visit Budapest again i'll definitely stay there again! P.S I found a very cheap offer in Hotels.com and it turned out i've paid almost half price than the other people that were with me in the conference...

Great location, clean room & well serviced. Good breakfast with lots of variety, but expensive. Staff very helpful. Free Internet "in rooms" is a MUST, in this age! We went next door to McDonalds for a coffee to contact home.

We stayed at the Astoria as my wife is originally from Budapest and knows the area very well.She recommended it. I found it clean and the staff were friendly and curtious.All our dining was done outside the hotel for variety. Coming from Vancouver BC I was surprised of smoking and non smoking rooms. You could smoke in the lobby.Small elevators. No fans in the bathrooms was unusual. Overall we were very satisfied and would recommend and would also return.

Η θέση του είναι ιδανική, καθώς επιτρέπει σε κάποιον να επισκεφθεί με άνεση όλα τα σημεία ενδιαφέροντος της Βουδαπέστης, ακόμη και με τα πόδια. Το πρωινό ήταν καλό και σε άνετο, ευχάριστο χώρο, ενώ το περιβάλλον του ξενοδοχείου γενικά προσφέρει ησυχία και άνεση. Ωστόσο, παρότι είχα κάνει κράτηση για δωμάτιο με θέα στον κεντρικό δρόμο και έφτασα νωρίς, ενημερώθηκα ότι δεν ήταν δυνατό να γίνει νωρίτερα το check-in. Όταν επέστρεψα στις 4 το απόγευμα, μου δόθηκε διαφορετικό δωμάτιο, με θέα σε ακάλυπτο χώρο αντί για τον δρόμο που είχα επιλέξει. Μετά από ενημέρωση στη ρεσεψιόν, το ζήτημα λύθηκε, αλλά χρειάστηκε να περιμένω περίπου μία ώρα. Έτσι, ενώ το check-in ήταν προγραμματισμένο για τις 3, τελικά μπήκα στο δωμάτιο γύρω στις 6 το απόγευμα. Συνολικά, η εμπειρία ήταν θετική — πολύ καλή τοποθεσία, άνετο περιβάλλον και καλή εξυπηρέτηση — αν και η καθυστέρηση και η αρχική ασυνεννοησία στο check-in θα μπορούσαν να είχαν αποφευχθεί. Bad: Παρότι είχα κάνει κράτηση για δωμάτιο με θέα στον κεντρικό δρόμο και έφτασα νωρίς στο ξενοδοχείο, ενημερώθηκα ότι δεν ήταν δυνατό να γίνει νωρίτερα το check-in. Όταν επέστρεψα στις 4 το απόγευμα, μου δόθηκε διαφορετικό δωμάτιο από αυτό που είχα κλείσει, με θέα σε ακάλυπτο χώρο. Μετά από ενημέρωση στη ρεσεψιόν, τελικά μου άλλαξαν δωμάτιο, ωστόσο χρειάστηκε να περιμένω περίπου μία ώρα. Έτσι, ενώ το check-in ήταν προγραμματισμένο για τις 3, κατάφερα να μπω στο σωστό δωμάτιο περίπου στις 6 το απόγευμα. Η όλη διαδικασία δημιούργησε περιττή ταλαιπωρία και δεν ανταποκρίθηκε στις προσδοκίες μου βάσει της κράτησης.

Good: Sehr gute, zentrale Lage mit optimaler Anbindung an Metro, Tram und Bus. Vieles Sehenswürdigkeiten sind fußläufig erreichbar in wenigen Minuten. Das Personal an der Rezeption ist mehrsprachig und sehr hilfsbereit mit auch vielen praktischen Hinweisen. Bad: Das Frühstücksangebot ist auf den ersten Blick vielfältig, ausreichend und abwechslungsreich. Auf den zweiten Blick allerdings bemerkt man wenig Nachhaltigkeit (viele Klein-Plastikverpackungen bei Butter, Marmelade usw.). Auch räumt das Frühstückspersonal sehr schnell leeres Geschirr vom Platz (obwohl man Teller und Tassen mehrmals benutzen könnte - sogar noch Geschirr mit ganzen Essenszutaten wie etwa nicht angebrochenes Obst oder volle Yoghurtschalen, wenn man für "eine zweite oder dritte Runde" nochmal ans Buffet geht und mal einen Moment niemand am Tisch verbleibt. 'Wir hatten Zimmer mit Frühstück gebucht und mussten am Abreisetag vor Frühstücksbeginn 7 Uhr das Hotel zum Flughafen verlassen - die vorab an der Rezeption angemeldete frühe Abreise mit Wunsch nach einen "Frühstückspaket" für den Tag wurde aufgenommen, in der Taxibuchung mit vermerkt und auf Nachfrage einen Tag vor Abreise nochmals bestätigt. Am Abreisetag dann leider war kein Frühstückspaket vorbereitet. Der Rezeptionist hatte sich zwar in der Küche dann um kurzfristige Bereitstellung um 6:30 Uhr noch bemüht, aber nach 20 Minuten Wartezeit mussten wir ohne Früstück, das vorab bezahlt war, das Hotel verlassen...

Удобный, современный , чистый , со всем необходимым. Хороший сервис и обслуживание. Завтраки очень вкусные и большой выбор. Есть ресторан для обеда и ужина. 初めてのハンガリーで、ホテルのクラシックな感じに惹かれて宿泊しました。 空港からのアクセスは100eのバスに乗れば目の前まで連れてきてくれます。 朝食付きプランにしましたが大正解でした。 ヨーロッパは外食の物価が高めですので、一食浮くだけでも相当助かります。 サラダコーナーのパプリカとソースものを組み合わせて食べるととても健康に良い食事が出来上がりますね。

Good: Lo mejor del alojamiento es sin duda la ubicación que tiene, hemos recorrido la ciudad a pie sin tener que coger metro a taxi. Esta limpio y cuidado y en general las habitaciones bastante amplias. Bad: Por poner algo negativo es que la presión del agua era muy baja por las mañanas y el agua no salía tan caliente te como por las noches

Good: Hotel a metros de la zona céntrica, muy bien mantenido, antiguo y señorial. Habitación amplia al igual que el baño. Desayuno excelente. Bad: Las almohadas

Good: Centrale ligging, vooral bij metro, bus en trams. Personeel behulpzaam. Schone kamers. Sfeervolle inrichting hotel. Ruime kamer/kasten. Badkamer, ruimte voor je spullen. Badspullen (al was de douchegel leeg). Bad: Slecht geslapen. Hotel bleek de airco/cooling uitgeschakeld ivm "koele" buitentemperatuur (18 gr overdag). Receptie adviseerde om de ramen overdag open te zetten en 's nachts dicht. Maar 's nachts was kamer nog te warm. Vanwege druk verkeer en veel keiharde (politie/ambulace-)sirenes lieten we de ramen gesloten. Alle nachten slecht geslapen.

Good: Do café da manhã muito bom e da localização. Excelente banho. Bad: Do atendimento da recepção em especial sr David que não nos recebeu bem. Foi grosseiro. Também achei o colchão meio mole.

Great location, friendly staff, and an OK breakfast. We stayed on the fifth floor with a balcony facing the main street, and I have to say the balcony railings felt far too low, which made us almost afraid to step out onto the balcony. There was also no child safety lock on the balcony door. Close to shopping, restaurants, and attractions — overall, a very good stay!
