Good: The location of this hotel is excellent very central and close to restaurants and transport. It was very easy to get around on public transport and there was a transport hub close by. Our room was extremely spacious and very well soundproofed. The bed was very comfortable and we had a lovely comfortable chair and table. There was a fridge in the room and also tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was included and was very good with lots of choice for everyone. Bad: The curtains were very flimsy and let in the daylight- would have preferred better quality curtains to ensure the room was darker.

Danubius is a renovated old building, a little old fashioned but comfortable. The staff wasn't very friendly, maybe due to a language barrier. We enjoyed our stay nevertheless. The location is great; practically above the metro and within walking distance of the historic center. They have a restaurant but we didn't eat there.

Danubius Hotel Astoria, in Budapest, has excellent location for visiting major travel attractions within Budapest, because Astoria Station has Metro Line 2 and various Tram lines which connect to major tour sites without any transfer, while visitors can also take Metro subway and reach major train stations easily. Hotel may look old for its building structure and interior design and furniture, but hotel rooms do give classic feeling for their furniture and do provide actual comfort for the visitors. Daily room service is above standard, and the service staffs do provide towel replacement. For staffs at the downstair counter, they are fluent in English, friendly and efficient. If there is anything which I have reservation about the hotel, then it will be its free coffee supply within every room, because it is still old fashion tube-style instant coffee, NOT coffee pod, NOT Drip Coffee. The Hotel does offer buffet breakfast service at its restaurant, Café Astoria, and I do enjoy its variety of mixed nuts, vegetable, bakery, fruit selections, but I love the most is its oatmeal which is properly cooked and NOT too light or thick. In addition, waiters and waitresses are friendly and fast to clean the table and help the visitors for coffee and juice….

Good: Excellent location, in the center of Budapest, close to main attractions & facilities, all close by walking. Room was spacious and very comfortable Breakfast was very good, with a large variety of food to choose from Bad: The room was on the 2nd floor on the main road with bothering noise coming from the traffic. The tap of the sink in the bathroom was hard to open, it was replaced the day after. The mattresses of he bed were too soft and not very comfortable

I recommend this historic hotel in Budapest. Situated just a few blocks from the impressive Hungarian history museum and very close to really nice cafes and restaurants. The hotel is vintage but nevertheless lives up to its 4 star level by offering the services that go accordingly. We stayed in a regular room in the 6th floor and had a lovely view of the avenue and city. The front desk team is number one, they efficiently checked you in and take care of every need. My husband and I needed 2 extra pillows and an anti slip mat for the shower, and they were there in our room upon our return from day long tour. I also complained about the single bed mattresses not being hard enough, well they had replaced them with better ones too. Our housekeeper kept our room perfectly clean and cared for. Excellent job! The restaurant team was also very attentive to our needs. We tried just a snack there. The duck liver paté, the national cold Tocai wine and a most delicious strawberry rhubarb soup! We slept so well. Truly recommend the hotel. It has a art deco style & very nice color choices.

Good: The location was perfect. The hotel was clean and comfy but old. The staff were helpful. Bad: The only issue was that the curtains did not have any backing, and as soon as the sun came up, we were woken by the light. They need thicker curtains. It would have also been nice to have an English speaking TV station.

Good: Beautiful ambiance. Location is excellent. Huge rooms. Bad: Some plumbing issues. Shower worked fine, but most water was not diverted to shower head. Wasteful. Also, there is an odor at times. You need to be sure run water through bidet so that loop seal/trap works as intended. Then it is fine.

Good: The property is truly a work of art—beautiful both inside and out. We stayed in classic rooms on the 6th floor, and it genuinely felt like stepping back into the 1930s/40s. The décor throughout, along with the exterior architecture, is stunning. Our bedroom was enormous, with a lovely view over the road and street below. While it’s not a scenic view in the traditional sense, at night the lights made it feel really special. The room was also impressively quiet—almost eerily so—which suggests excellent soundproofing. I actually slept so well I nearly missed breakfast! All of the common areas and hallways are equally beautiful, maintaining the building’s historic charm. The lifts are small, in keeping with the era, but still perfectly comfortable to use. The only minor drawback was at busy check-out times in the morning, when the small lift capacity made things a little congested with luggage. We would absolutely stay here again. If I had one small suggestion, it would be that some of the paintwork and minor woodwork in the bedrooms could benefit from a refresh, but this in no way detracted from an otherwise wonderful stay. Its location was also excellent, making it very easy to walk to all the main sights and places of interest. Bad: There really wasn’t much we disliked about the property at all. The breakfast room, like the rest of the hotel, is stunningly beautiful. However, seating can be a bit of a lottery—many of the best spots are taken early, so the earlier you go down, the better your chance of a good table and hotter food. Later in the morning it does get very busy indeed. There is a wide selection of both cooked and cold options, and you will certainly find something to enjoy. That said, the hot food was generally only lukewarm, and I felt the pastries and cakes could have been a little fresher. During peak times, there also wasn’t much staff direction in the breakfast area, which occasionally made finding a table feel a bit chaotic. On the staff side, overall everyone we encountered was lovely and helpful. The only exception was an older male receptionist who came across as quite stern and not especially warm, though this may simply be his natural manner rather than a reflection of service. Overall, we had a wonderful stay in a truly beautiful and atmospheric property. The building itself is stunning, full of character, and immaculately maintained in its public areas, with spacious, comfortable, and wonderfully quiet rooms that really do make you feel as though you’ve stepped into another era.
