had an amazing stay at this hotel, the position of the hotel was perfect for access to sights, cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and river. We booked a deluxe room with breakfast, the room was spacious and comfy with air con, traffic noise could be a problem at night if you had to sleep with the windows open, and there was plenty to choose from for breakfast which we had brought to our room at our chosen time. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

Good: staff were fantastic, very polite and couldnt do enough to help we took upgraded twin room that was nice and great bed location just about ok - brilliant if you use the metro Bad: front rooms are noisy with view of main crossroads, back rooms are quite with view of opp building 10 meters away... having to pay for wifi

Good: Excellent location and wonderful big rooms. The famous cafe/restaurant was very grand. Bad: Wifi in room had to be paid for - and did not work! But hotel refunded and assured that they are to change their internet provider soon. Free wifi in public areas worked well.

Good: Excellent room with comfortable bed. Very helpful and enthusiastic staff. If you are an Aussie seek out Thomas. Cocktail bar and restaurant with excellent menu. Generous buffet breakfast. Central location with easy access to buses & trams. Short walk to the "must see" New York Cafe! Bad: Limited city street view.

The Danubius Astoria is a charming hotel with an old fashioned elegance. The staff were impeccable, lovely bathroom and very comfortable beds. Rather noisy at the front, but ear plugs do the trick. We didn't bother with the breakfast. You get coffee or tea and a mini croissant gratis anyway,.and there are such cheap and lovely places to eat. The breakfast smelt and looked rather plastic and not at all worth the price. A great holiday and a great hotel

Good: Location and room excellent. Extremwly clean spacious and comfortable. Staff in general very friendly and professional. The room was good value for money. Bad: The food including breakfast was outrageously overpriced so we didn't stay in the hotel for it, it meant we missed out a bit on the atmosphere of staying in such a lovely place. There was one Porter who was noticably cooler and less friendly than the other staff. We were dreading having to meet him in the doorway by the time we were leaving. At times noise from the street was an issue but that's the price to pay for the fantastic location.

Charming, older hotel in great location, right by the famous synagogue and the Jewish Quarter; all points easily accessible-walked everywhere. Reception staff (24 hour) very knowledgeable and extremely helpful in guiding you around the city and answering all questions. Was lovely having a bellman, too, + two elevators. Two beautiful eating areas to have "tea" and dine in. Only complaints: (1)the morning "breakfast" included in the room price was only a small croissant and very watered down coffee; otherwise, the hotel offered a very expensive buffet, and (2) free wifi only in the lobby and restaurant. Highly recommend Free Walking Tours while in Budapest.

Good: - Location - Really helpful staff Bad: -Cleanness - Bellboys behavior - Wifi in the rooms Location Tip: -Tesco - Astoria metro station - Bank - Good restaurants - Main street Pros: The reception staff are great, It was felt like we have tourist information on our demand. The location is perfect, on the spot of "Astoria" metro station. Cons: The room wasn't clean enough. The bellboys are bit annoying, They try to get tips for every help. The only way to get WIFI is in the lobby, There is no way to get it in the room

my wife and i thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Astoria and would have no hesitation in recommending it , staff were friendly , rooms great and cleaned every day, nice big bathroom and the hotel was centrally located, with a metro stop outside and a stop for the hop on /hop off bus opposite, if i have to make any comment and this is not a criticism , i would like to have had tea/coffee making facilities in the room

Good: Wonderful, old-world hotel. Both the Hall and rooms are beautifully decorated. Most staff speak fluent English, and, especially the older ones, fluent German (which generally is better understood in Budapest than English). Our room was well sized, with very comfortable beds, a spotless, immacculately clean carpet (fitted carpets can be off-putting in hotels, but not this one), very well equipped and comfortable. The bathroom was well sized and modern, an important bonus in an old hotel. Another plus is the excellent soundproofing of the double-glazed windows which completely shut out the heavy roadnoise. There is a large variety of TV stations, German, Italian, English and even Spanish, plus a few radio stations. If you are a classical music lover, you will soon be addicted to the Hungarian classical station which must be the best I have ever listened to. The location is very convenient as it is within easy walking distance to the centre of Pest (15 minutes walk to Andrássy ut and the opera), 20 minutes to Buda, with the Astoria metro station in front of the entrance, as well as a tram and bus stop. (The tram being my preferred mode of transport). It also has a beautiful café and restaurant which in it's old-world elegance is reminiscent of Viennese coffee houses. It even has an underground disco, the decor being an extraordinary mix of old world and 70's with plush velvet and strobe lighting, with a sleepy DJ/barman playing rap and House!! Great for a late night laugh, although it was closed most of the time! I did read some negative reviews of this hotel and am glad I ignored them, however I should mention that we stayed in one of the "superior" or "deluxe" rooms under the Special Winter offer, which made it very good value for money. I certainly would stay there again.

Good: Great location near Astoria Metro station, friendly staff (even some Finnish speaking!), clean and large rooms, sophisticated "old-world" athmosphere with comfortable interior. Free (good) coffee with croissant. Definitely would like to come again! Bad: The price of the buffet breakfast could have been a bit cheaper. Now we ate local "Langos" in the Market Hall and that was great too.

Lovely traditional Hotel in a very central location. Magnificent Restaurant. Breakfast very plentiful and varied, included in price, in our case. Bedrooms, very comfortable, if decor a little "tired". Bathroom very clean and good supply of hot water for shower. TV needs to be up-dated!! Hotel staff were very well trained and efficient. Overall, a very good place to stay in the lovely city of Budapest.

The hotel was clean and spacious. We were three thirty-something friends traveling and we were given a large room with a pull out sofa and a second toilet. The hotel was located at the Astoria metro stop and just off of several tram lines with easy access to both Buda and Pest. The price was very affordable and the staff were helpful with getting around on public transit and getting a cab to the airport. Internet was available in the lobby for free.

Lovely hotel in the centre of pest within 10 mins walking distance of the river. Good transport system on the doorstep giving access to all locations. A busyish road but the rooms were air conditioned so you could not hear the traffic at all. I would definately stay there again and recommend this to anyone wanting a good quality hotel at a reasonable price. We only booked for the coffee & coissant not the full breakfast - at approx 12 euros per head (as much coffee as you like but only one small croissant) which was fine for us because there are plently of good cafes and bars around in budapest where you can get a lovely breaksfast at half the hotel prices and we like to try different places. A lovley holiday and city to visit. You must visit the thermal baths....wonderful!!! also try the cycling tour of the city - fantastic way to see the sights.

Good: Lovely big corner room with two Juliet balconies. Bad: Traffic noise when windows were open. Location Tip: Very central and nice area. Well located. Room service very limited but great restaurants in a few minutes walk. Staff very friendly.

This is an excellent hotel if you value an old-fashioned hotel experience, with elegantly dressed men at the front desk, marble and damask, tea room and the like. The location is well located in the City Center of Pest near a major subway stop. The rate was very reasonable, and the front desk will exchange currency (not the best rate going, but at least it's convenient). The rooms are recently remodeled and fairly large -- with air conditioning.

Good: The friendliness of the staff, the really comfortable bed, good shower and bath. The graciousness of the decor and ambience which was miles away from a chain type of hotel. Danubius Hotels have connections with a Spa. Hop on Hop off bus booked through hotel with no extras and nearby stop. Bad: Breakfast was a bit hit and miss some times as they ran out of items when the locusts pounced! However the staff were very happy to replenish and the pastries were delicious. The single supplement is unfair on people who through no choice of their own have to travel alone. Perhaps in a group booking a concession could be made especially in quiet times.

Good: The hotel is grand elegance. A beautiful place with attentive staff. The bedrooms are wonderful and clean with very good bathrooms with power showers. Very relaxing and good value for money. We ate out a lot as there are dozens of restaurants nearby and the Astoria is right on the metro line and also a short walk to most of the major attractions. It is probably the best located hotel in Budapest. Bad: We had our breakfast out of the hotel where it is cheaper. But they do a complimentary croissant and coffee which was good.

Good: Wonderful hotel with an old-time charm and elegance, friendly and helpful staff. Worth paying a little bit extra for a superior room - spacious, comfortable, characterful. Bad: All reception/concierge staff we encountered were fantastic, but all male only - this might reflect the historical character of the hotel, but is hard to justify in the 21st century!

The room was spacious, comfortable and well-presented. The staff were all very helpful and put themselves out to solve issues and to make our stay comfortable. We were there out of season but the only disappointment for us was that the restaurant was quiet (probably because of the time of year) but the food was excellent, the entertainment extremely good and the staff attentive. We would recomment the hotel to anyone as extremely good value for money and a lovely place to stay.

Good: I have to admit I liked everything about the hotel. The room was perfect (especially liked how it was decorated), the bed was comfortable, and even though it was located in the busy area, having the soundproof windows, it was completely quiet in our room. The heating in the room was also perfect. It was nice to return to a warm room after the whole day of walking around in the rain. The location of the hotel is very convenient. The hotel is located just above the metro station. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Really enjoyed my stay! :o) Bad: There wasn't anything I didn't like about our stay in this hotel.

A very well located hotel. Easy to find and a very nice place to stay. Astoria is right by the metro and the 47 and 49 trams stop outside. The staff are very professional and there is a dignified, traditional atmosphere to the hotel, which includes most modern facility. We did not bring a laptop so I don't know what the wifi arrangements are, however there are plenty of places around with internet access. We also dined in the restaurant and had a superb meal. Budapest is a lovely city and we shall certainly revisit and stay at this hotel. If you are new to Budapest we would also recommend that you consider taking the airport minibus to directly to your hotel. This was affordable and was very convenient both on the arrival and departure to the airport.

Good: Cosy classic style building initially built as hotel, not quick'n'dirty redesign of soviet era office property. Carpeting is everywhere. Quiet, comfy, clean. Most of guests are travelling mature retired pairs. Location of Astoria Hotel is very suitable for exploring Budapest by walking and/or by using public transport. You'll never get a chance to get lost because Astoria is marked on all city maps I've seen since it has "it's own" metro station with entry right at front of hotel doors. Bad: While free in-room WiFi is common practice among most of Budapest hotels, one have to pay for it in Danubius Astoria. But If you happen to get a room at east side (Muzeum korut/Karoly korut) you'll probably be able to use McDonalds' free hotspot.

Good: The room was perfect, with a nice balcony. The king size bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very clean. Bad: The breakfast was expensive : 15 euros, it was correct but not fantastic.

Good: Staff Bad: No complaints Location Tip: Superb location. Literally steps from the metro. You're close to everything! At first, I thought the hotel is a little dark (as in, not well lit), but I think that's just a Hungary thing. I will say, the staff ALWAYS went above and beyond for every guest. I would gladly recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Very quiet room at the back of the hotel. Easy to walk to the Danube. Metro makes it easy to travel to the station and to further parts of the city. Excellent restaurant.

Good: Perfect price-location. Easily accessible from airport (bus & 1 metro change). Everything is easily reachable, once you are in the city. Bad: Nothing. It was a regular 3-4 star hotel, good service, good price, perfect location close to everything.

The hotel is very well situated; it's nice and has an excellent service. Breakfast is overpriced but we opted for the continental breakfast that was included and then had a good lunch later.

I was very happy with my stay at your hotel. The rooms were very large and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The location allowed access to all parts of the city easily. Good value for the price charged. The only thing that I can comment on is having WiFi int he room would be more convenient. But the WiFi provided in the lobby worked very well and was fast and easy to access.

Good: An ideal location in Pest, modern facilities in an historic building, and just the most helpful and pleasant desk staff one could hope for. For guests who opt not to buy the breakfast buffet, the hotel provides coffee, tea and croissant in the dining room. Truly a delightful experience that added greatly to our enjoyment of Budapest.
